Sitra Panirsheeluam

Psychologist/ Behavioural Therapist

I provide emotional and practical cognitive behaviour support plans to individuals and their families who struggle to live independently because of psychological & health issues, emotional problems, behavioural issues and learning difficulties. This can include clients dealing with developmental disorders, brain injury or disease, memory disorders, stress and anxiety.

I work with clients who have short term care needs or those with longer term or lifelong difficulties. I believe that each individual has his/her own capabilities and with appropriate intervention and mental health support they can reach their highest potential by identifying their best skills and focusing on them to have a purpose and meaning in life and progressing towards meaningful life goals.

I have successfully helped clients with developmental disorders to integrate with their peers and excel in a mainstream environment.

I am a strong advocate for Autism and have helped with writing the “Standard Operating Procedure for handling Autistic Individuals” by the Malaysian Police force.”

Over the last ten years I have worked with local and international clients. This has enabled me to have an appreciation and exposure to a wide audience with varied backgrounds and cultures. I work closely with foreign embassies in Kuala Lumpur providing services related to mental health and education. I am sensitive to one’s cultural beliefs and practices and ensure an environment is provided to make patients feel comfortable at all times.

Different Therapy Modalities

Parent Coaching

I coach parents using principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis and other behaviour modification techniques to help parents step in as the “therapist” for their children. This can include teaching your child play/leisure skills, group instruction, academic skills, gross and fine motor skills, turn taking, and non-verbal and verbal imitation.

One-on-one therapy for Children

I provide one on one behaviour therapy intervention for children using principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Social Thinking and other behaviour modification techniques.

What to expect in a session

During your first appointment, I will examine any medical reports and assessments from the last 6 months to better understand my client. We work list down the concerns/issues you would like to work on, and we will discuss how we can achieve our personal goals. My approach will depend on your particular situation and preference.

I speak English, Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia and Tamil.
